Selection Committee 2024-2025
Youp Hafkamp ● Digital Systems Officer 2021-2022
Hi there!
I am Youp Hafkamp and I was the Digital Systems Officer in the 73rd board! I look back on my board year with incredibly warm feelings, already 3 years ago. I am now working as a Consultant in financial services at Synechron. Besides my work, I am an avid runner and I still play football every Saturday. If you have any questions, I’m always up for a coffee!
If you’re contemplating a board year with one of the largest study associations in the Netherlands but still have lingering questions, feel free to reach out. We’d be delighted to engage in a chat, answer all your inquiries, and perhaps share a cup of coffee to discuss further 🙂
Gwen van Heijst ● Career Officer 2019-2020
Hi,
My name is Gwen van Heijst and am now 28 years old. Five years ago, I was the Career Officer of the 71st board of student association Aureus. This year, I am part of the selection committee, and I am very excited to meet everyone interested in a board year at Aureus.
After my own board year, I completed a master’s in BA: Leadership and Change Management at the VU and was part of the Supervisory Board of Aureus for three years. After finishing my master’s, I started working as a consultant at Deloitte. Seven months ago, I transitioned to ConQuaestor Consulting, where I am currently working.
Would you like to get into contact about doing a board year at Aureus?
Feel free to send me a message on LinkedIn so we can have a coffee together!
Thijme Pas ● HR Officer 2022-2023
Hi,
My name is Thijme Pas and I am 23 years old. I was the HR & CSR Officer of the 74th board of Aureus. After my board year I continued studying and I am currently doing my masters in European Politics. The things I enjoyed most about my board year were the new relationships I made and the experiences I gained throughout my year.
Feel free to reach out to me in any way possible if you have any further questions, and I will make sure to persuade you to apply.
Amber Politiek • Chairwoman 2024-2025
Hi there!
My name is Amber Politiek, and I am the chairwoman of the 76th board of Aureus. Last year I finished my bachelor Business Administration, and after that, I decided to apply for a board year to gain practical experience. Besides that, I had already done some committees for Aureus, which were a lot of fun, and I wanted to do something more for the association. As the chair, I am responsible for the coordination of the board, for the long term vision of Aureus and for maintaining good contact with important stakeholders.
Doing a board year can be considered a unique experience to gain practical experience of leading one of the largest study associations in the Netherlands. Being responsible for an association with over 6500 members will lead to many challenges and hiccups which requires creative and strategic thinking. The mix of social, career and academic events makes a day in the life of a board member never boring and challenges you to organize a diverse set of events! Furthermore, doing a board year will help develop multiple skills like managing committees, strategic thinking, planning, and organizing.
As I had to make the decision myself as well, I know it can be difficult to decide for yourself if you want to do a board year or not. I don’t regret my decision at all! I would love to help you with this decision, and tell you all about my own experience as a full time board member!
Please feel free to reach out to me through LinkedIn for any questions that you have!
Rick Brouwer ● HR Officer 2024-2025
Hi,
I am Rick and I am the current HR Officer and Vice-chair at Aureus. After finishing my bachelor in International Business Administration I decided to do a board year. This was because I was looking for a place where I could gain experience before starting a Master and at the same time have a lot of fun. Right now I am in charge of the recruitment and development of all members, as well as helping out our Chairwoman with making strategic decision for the future path of the assosiation.
If you might be interested in joining the 77th board, don’t hesitate to contact me for a nice sip and talk about doing a board year!
