Our festival tips for Kingsday 2018!

This week will be the week that a lot of us have been looking forward to. Friday the 27th of April it’s that time of the year again where you are allowed to skip school and celebrate the birthday of our king: Kingsday! Of course, you can take a nice walk through Amsterdam or another big city and hang out at some bars, but as you might all know, there are a lot of festivals you can attend as well. We would like to sum up some of the coolest festivals in and near Amsterdam.

Kingsland Festival Amsterdam • Amsterdam RAI

We’re starting of with the most popular festival in Amsterdam: Kingsland. The festival is popular because of its location, which is easy to access, and the number of stages. There are a lot of different stages with different styles of music. Also, there are many time slots so each DJ can play their set. Most of the times on a big stage. Examples of artists performing on Kingsland are: Hardwell, de Jeugd van tegenwoordig, Lil Kleine, Ronnie Flex, Broederliefde, JeBroer and many more!

Oranjebloesem • Blijburg aan Zee

Would you rather flee out of Amsterdam, but still join a very nice party? Then Oranjebloesem would be the perfect fit for you. With many techno and deep house music stages, you can let yourself go and enjoy the surroundings of the beach at the same time. Artists playing at Oranjebloesem are DJ Tennis, Joris Voorn, Weval, Job Jobse, Dekmantel Soundsystem, Tom Trago, Jungle By Night and Omar Souleyman,

Urban Music Festival • Stadspodium Amsterdam

Are you really into Urban music and love to dance to all of the famous R&B and hip-hop hits? Do you know all of the new Boef songs by heart? Then you should definitely go to the Urban Music Festival. A lot of famous artists are coming along, like: Boef, FB, Josylvio, BMG, Mula B and Tabitha. Go shake those hips.

Cartel Kingsday • Westergasterrein Amsterdam

If you don’t have much to spend on kingsday, you also have the opportunity to join smaller festivals. Cartel kingsday is a party organised for everyone who just likes to have fun and dance. There are 19 indoor and outdoor locations with different styles of music, but it is not as big as Kingsland for example. The party will last for 20 hours straight! Those hours will be filled by artists like: Ben Sims, Optimo, Move D, Ryan Elliot, I-F and David Vunk.

De School + Garage Noord • Club De School

This is the only festival where the entrance is for FREE! ‘De School’ and ‘Garage’ are organizing an event together, where you can dance to nice tunes or do workshops and other fun activities. The acts that will come along are: Arif, Bredt, Carista, Cinnaman, Kumasi and Lizza

Koningsdag Live • Nieuwe Groenmarkt, Haarlem

The city center of Harlem is also a very popular place to go on Kingsday. Here, you can enjoy live music (for free), and the vibe is very nice. The ‘Patronaat’ and ‘Roring’ are organizing this live music stage together, where you also have the opportunity to walk through a ‘rommelmarkt’. Artists who will be here are: The Cool Quest, Nuno Dos Santos & Sjamsoedin, OIJ, Joe Goes Hunting, Fata Boom en Palmsy.

Kralingse Bos Festival • Rotterdam

And last but not least, the ‘Kralingse Bos Festival’ in Rotterdam. This is not for free, like the last two options mentioned, but maybe nicer because of that. For the ones not living close to Amsterdam, you can always go to one of the other big cities in the Netherlands. Rotterdam organizes the Kralingse bos festival, which is in the middle of the forest, and the music styles and stages are very diverse. For example Famke Louise, Kraantje Pappie, Ben Sims and Deniore are coming by to make your day one to remember.

But no matter what you decide to do coming Friday, we’re sure you’ll all have great day wherever you are!
And if you’re having so much fun that you don’t want the party to end, there will be plenty of afterparties to attend in the city. Check our FAQ for an overview of websites that will help you find the best club for you!
