Main responsibilities:

  • Focusing on the long-term vision and strategy
  • Supporting the chairman in the long-term policy making
  • Ad hoc project management
  • Maintaining the contact with the stakeholders of the SBE
  • Development of a sustainable alumni network
  • Committee coordination: Speaker Series, World Wide Committee, VUSE, Alumni, Master Club S&O, Master Club IM.

About Veronika:

Hi! My name is Veronika and I am 23 years old. I did my Bachelor’s degree in Germany, where I am originally from. For my Master’s degree, I always wanted to go abroad and the Netherlands seemed like an interesting country. In the end, I decided to study Digital Business and Innovation at the VU.  

During my studies, I was not involved in Aureus, which was mainly because I missed the introduction in the first weeks of the academic year because I was not yet in the Netherlands at that time. The pandemic made it difficult to make many social contacts with my fellow students and to get to know Amsterdam and the Dutch culture well. However, these were the main reasons for me to come here. This is not how I wanted to remember my time in the Netherlands.   

When I first heard about the board year, I didn’t have a clear idea of what it entailed. But after doing a bit of research and preparing for the application process, I became more and more excited about it. My main motivation for applying was the opportunity to get to know the city better from a student’s perspective, to gain deeper experiences of the Dutch culture and also to acquire more work-related professional skills to prepare me for working life. 

Now I am looking forward to the challenge that comes with it: defining the position of the Innovation Officer which was introduced last year, ensuring the implementation of CSR in Aureus, supervising all of the interesting committees assigned to me, and achieving my own personal goals.
