Joris van der Tuin • Controller

Main responsibilities:

  • Financially supervising the controllers of all committees
  • Committee coordination: Amsterdam Research Project, European Study Trip, Masterclub FEA

Hi!

My name is Joris van der Tuin and I am the Controller of the 76th board of Aureus. I am 24 years old and I was born and raised in Hilversum. I have been walking around the VU campus for 5(!) years already. After my bachelor Economics and Business economics, I continued with the master Finance and afterwards I extended my studies even further by following the Master Duisenberg Honours Programme in Finance and Technology. Not knowing what career path I would like to embark upon, applying for a board year seemed the perfect opportunity to broaden my vision on what possibilities lie ahead.

My first interaction with the association was already 5 years ago, during the introduction of my Bachelor. It was a week full of fun activities where I got to know my fellow students. During Covid I did not attend any of the Aureus events, but the years after, my involvement with Aureus has increased quite a lot. First, by joining a lot of social and career related events. Last year I became even more active and joined the Zuidas Tour committee. This was an experience where I was able to learn a lot. Being the Controller and secretary and helping out with the acquisition enabled me to be involved in most aspects of the event.

In my role as controller, I will be responsible for the financial health of the association and monitoring all expenses. Furthermore, I will be guiding the controllers of all committees. Besides this role, I will be guiding the following committees: Amsterdam Research Project, European Study Trip and a masterclub.

In my spare time I really enjoy going for drinks with friends and going to concerts. You can also find me often in a record store buying new vinyl records.

If you have any questions or just want to grab a cup of coffee, feel free to contact me!
