Selection Committee 2023-2024
Ellemijn Dijkema ● HR Officer 2021-2022
Hi there!
I’m Ellemijn, the former HR Officer of the 73rd Board of Aureus. Loved my board members! Despite the unconventional circumstances of my board year, with half of it impacted by COVID restrictions, it turned out to be one of the most rewarding periods of my student life. Our board successfully balanced ad-hoc management and strategic tasks, fostering not only professional growth but also invaluable self-development. This journey helped me discern my career path, identifying both my strengths and weaknesses and laying a robust foundation for future endeavors.
Beyond the enriching professional aspects, there’s ample room for creating delightful memories through parties and social events. The friendships forged during this year are lasting and contribute significantly to the overall experience. Without a doubt, I wholeheartedly recommend a board year to everyone—it seamlessly combines work and enjoyment, leaving you with an unforgettable experience!
If you’re contemplating a board year with one of the largest study associations in the Netherlands but still have lingering questions, feel free to reach out. We’d be delighted to engage in a chat, answer all your inquiries, and perhaps share a cup of coffee to discuss further 🙂
Bob Metselaar ● Commercial Officer 2021-2022
Hi guys,
My name is Bob and I was the Commercial Officer of the 73rd Aureus Board. I have just finished the Finance master at the VU. Reflecting on my own experience of the board year, I look back to a year which has shaped me both professionally and personally. During this year, you will work on your communication, leadership and organization skills by working together with your board and several committees. Beyond the professional growth, a board year is a time to create lasting memories. As someone who has lived it, I recommend a board year to everyone. It is an unforgettable experience, challenging at times, yet ultimately rewarding with valuable lessons learned and a year filled with enjoyable trips and parties. It’s the perfect combination of work and fun.

Bob van den Driesschen ● Innovation Officer 2018-2019
Hi guys & girls,
My name is Bob and I was the Innovation Officer of the 70th board of Aureus. Back in the day, the Innovation Officer role consisted of both the tasks of the current Innovation & Digital Systems Officer. Oh how times have changed! Currently I am working as a Business Controller at VodafoneZiggo.
During my board year I was able to prepare myself for the professional life I hoped for. Doing a board year gives you the experience that is often requested when applying for your first professional job. You get to lead an organization of multiple thousand members, help develop many committee members to take the next steps in their career, and tackle projects and problems you will never learn about during lectures and tutorials. This, in combination with working in a team of fellow board members, gives you such a unique experience that you will never be able to experience somewhere else. You are already looking into finding more information on a board year if you happen across this webpage, so why not take the next step now and apply!
Feel free to reach out to me in any way possible if you have any further questions, and I will make sure to persuade you to apply.

Apart from the professional skills and network I gained, it is the overall experience and sense of community that I cherish the most. Sterre Woelders • Chairman 2023-2024
Hi there!
My name is Sterre Woelders, and I am the chairwoman of the 75th board of Aureus. Last year I finished my bachelor Business Administration, and after that, I decided to apply for a board year to gain practical experience. Besides that, I had already done some committees for Aureus, which were a lot of fun, and I wanted to do something more for the association. As the chair, I am responsible for the coordination of the board, for the long term vision of Aureus and for maintaining good contact with important stakeholders.
Doing a board year can be considered a unique experience to gain practical experience of leading one of the largest study associations in the Netherlands. Being responsible for an association with over 6500 members will lead to many challenges and hiccups which requires creative and strategic thinking. The mix of social, career and academic events makes a day in the life of a board member never boring and challenges you to organize a diverse set of events! Furthermore, doing a board year will help develop multiple skills like managing committees, strategic thinking, planning, and organizing.
As I had to make the decision myself as well, I know it can be difficult to decide for yourself if you want to do a board year or not. I don’t regret my decision at all! I would love to help you with this decision, and tell you all about my own experience as a full time board member!
Please feel free to reach out to me through LinkedIn for any questions that you have!

Right now I am in charge of the recruitment and development of all members, as well as making sure the association is taking the right steps in regards to inclusion, diversity and sustainability.
I would recommend everyone to do a board year. During this year I have gained friendships for the rest of my life, gained experience for my future career as well as the greatest times of my life.
